TIME is running out to nominate your best on the beat in this year's Community Policing Awards, jointly organised by Avon and Somerset Police Authority and Constabulary.
The awards recognise the outstanding work of the Constabulary's Neighbourhood Policing Teams. With only three weeks to go people are being urged to get involved and nominate a police officer, staff or team who have gone the extra mile for the community they serve. Now in its fifth year, it is the only awards ceremony within the force that asks the public to nominate.
Police Authority member Cllr Pete Levy said: "We know there are more residents across Avon and Somerset that think very highly of their Neighbourhood Policing teams. As a councillor many people tell me about the good police work going on everyday and we're asking all those people who have not yet voted but have experienced exceptional service to nominate an officer, police staff, Special, volunteer or team now, to make sure these people get the recognition they deserve."
Assistant Chief Constable John Long said: "These awards are about recognising the real difference that members of our neighbourhood teams are making to our communities on a daily basis.
"The response from the public so far has been excellent but there is still time to vote for an individual or a team who you think deserves recognition.
"We have exceptional individuals and teams working across the force that fit the criteria and we hope these awards will prompt communities to give credit where it's due as well as inspire fellow officers and staff to strive for the same high standards."
Nomination forms are available at police stations or you can nominate on-line. The closing date for is November 21, after which an independent panel will select winners for each of the six policing districts: Bristol; South Gloucestershire; Bath and North East Somerset; North Somerset; Somerset West and East.
